Start Spreadin' the News

Friends, there's something I've been dying to tell you about for the past few months, and now that I have worked out all the kinks, it's about time that I make an announcement. Here's a little visual aid for you:

I got the big envelope! (above is my best attempt at recreating what I thought was the look I made when I saw the envelope. Imagine me making a slight squeal at the same time.)

Yes I know, I've been hiding a secret from you...but the cat's finally out of the bag- I'm going to grad school. Remember how I mentioned learning as one of my goals for 2011? Well this has been my plan since before that post, but I had to wait until I got all the details under control to share with you. Yesterday I received a schedule and a list of books I need to order, and I just can't contain myself anymore.

I'm going to be attending an online program at Maryland Institute College of Art for a Master of Professional Studies in the Business of Art and Design. That's right. I'm getting a masters degree in BAD.

Years ago as an undergrad I never would have imagined myself pursuing a graduate degree. But things have changed as I've started my career, and this program will help me take it in the right direction. Starting Clever Betty and this blog have helped me to realize that I've wanted to do my own thing all along... but I need more education to get to where I want to be. So starting at the end of May, for 14 months, I'll officially be a student again, learning about business in an arts-based/entrepreneurial program.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am- to learn, to be a part of such a program, and that I got in in the first place... MICA's acceptance rate for this program was around 20-25%, and the grad programs at the university are ranked in the top four in the nation. And I get to be a part of it.

Bring on the school supplies!
