Happy Snow Day to me! The weather must have known I'd be celebrating the one year anniversary of the opening of my shop. In an effort to keep from getting cabin fever, and since it's the first of February, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some upcoming changes to You Had Me At Handmade with you.
One year later, I feel like my little shop has become pretty successful. I have my ups and downs when I'm busy with the rest of my life, but the plan is to keep on truckin'. One way that I'm going to do so is through my blog. I'm bringing back weekly columns! I do love writing about myself, but this blog is called You Had Me at Handmade... so we're gonna switch things up a bit to put more emphasis on the handmade. Here's the lineup that you can expect to see on a regular basis:
Featured artists. I used to do this with my "Found in the Forums" posts, but I found it to be limiting, so I'm opening it up to all artists. Not just Etsians... but any artist who has a web presence. I'm excited to share who I find with you!
Weekly Obsessions. I'm going to share a weekly collage of things I just can't get out of my mind, and think you'll enjoy too! This will of course be heavy on the handmade, but you can count on fashion, interior design, graphic design and other pretty stuff too. I recently joined Pinterest, so I'm hoping that will be a great tool to help with this column.
What I learned. I've done a few of these posts in the past and have received a really good response to them. I think it will be a great way to keep you updated with what I'm up to on a weekly basis- from work, to fun, to Clever Betty, and everything in between!
Sunday Snapshot. I fell way behind on this column so I stopped doing it all together... but the truth is, I miss it! It's a fun way for me to share my experiences with you, past and present, in visual form. So don't worry, you'll still see plenty of posts about myself, Sean, wedding planning, etc... just in a more organized way.
Monthly tutorials. I've had an overwhelming number of requests to start doing regular DIY tutorials. While I'd like to do more, I'm going to start with one per month. You can count accessories, Adobe Creative Suite knowledge, gifts, and maybe even a few involving my dressform.... so stay tuned!
I'm excited about all of these new (and returning) adventures on You Had Me at Handmade... and I hope you are too! It's about time I catch up, right? But what better way to celebrate my one year Etsyversary than with a fresh start to the blog! I'm also going to be working on the structure and design, so if you would please pardon the dust over the next few weeks, I promise I'll get everything in order and looking good again in no time.
Let me know what you think! Are there any people you want me to write about? Any particular kinds of tutorials? I love hearing your feedback, so leave a comment or contact me at cleverbettycraft@gmail.com.
